Sheriff Bonds update in Stone County Leader

The following information is taken from the daily activity logs of deputies with the Stone County Sheriff's Office.

During the week of 2/22 - 2/28 deputies:
. Made a break - in report on Lemon Road.
. Investigated a theft of property on some items found on the road. The items had been stolen from a Mountain View residence. Some of the items were recovered by the sheriff's office. The case is under investigation.
. Investigated a stolen tractor from York Cemetery Road.
. Responded to a trespassing complaint on Horton Hill Road.
. Investigated a theft report from a residence. The matter was resolved.
. Responded to a one vehicle accident on Culp Road. No personal injuries.
. Responded to a call on a Lincoln Navigator thought to be stolen.
. Responded to a vehicle accident of Hwy. 14 east near Marcella. The vehicle had left the scene when deputies arrived.
. Reserve deputies worked 55 hours transporting 17 prisoners, spent 114.5 hours riding with regular deputies, spent 7 hours in court, spent 8 hours training, supervised 27 miles of trash pick up for the month and picked up 78 bags of trash. Total hours donated for the month, 636.5. This averages 22.7 hours per day or equal to about 3 deputies per day.
The sheriff reported that a number of residents have received checks in the mail that they were not expecting, and the checks turned out to be a scam. He advises residents to be cautious and not give any personal information to anyone over the telephone, and to call the sheriff's office on any suspicious offers.
Also, a number of thefts have occurred in the county at unsecured out buildings. He advised residents to lock up tools and equipment and items that could be converted to cash at a pawn shop.
