search begins

On September 10, 2014, Rhonda Ray of Wynne, AR reported that her husband Samuel Ray 49 also of Wynne walked away from their campsite at Gunner Pool Campground on the Ozark National Forest at dawn on September 9, 2014 and did not return. The Stone County Sheriff’s Department, Mountain View Police Department, Stone County Office of Emergency Management, Baxter County Sheriff’s Department, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, and the United States Forest Service searched the area from ground and air on September 10th without success. It was later learned through interviews, that Samuel Ray fled the campsite after he thought he heard a police radio. It is believed that Ray is currently eluding authorities because of the outstanding charges in Mississippi. Samuel Ray is currently wanted on Aggravated Assault with a Weapon charges from the State of Mississippi. Samuel Ray has a lengthy criminal history. A search of the area will continue however; weather is a factor.
Samuel Ray is 5’ 10’’ 170-180 pounds with green eyes and thinning hair. He was last seen wearing a light green tank top, black shorts and black tennis shoes. Any information regarding Mr. Ray’s whereabouts can be communicated to the Stone County Sheriff’s Department at 870-269-3825.
