Sheriff Lance Bonds states that on March 20, 2015, at approximately 6:39PM, deputies with the Stone County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the area of Sunny Fox Road for a disturbance involving a male subject, later identified as John Levey of Mountain View, Arkansas.  After arriving in the area, deputies made contact with Levey as he walked alongside the roadway (Hwy. 9) carrying a long gun (rifle).  Levey was immediately directed to lay the rifle down, at which time he complied and was disarmed.  The firearm, a 7.62 SKS was loaded.

Further investigation revealed that Levey was intoxicated and had been involved in a one-vehicle accident just minutes prior to deputies being dispatched.  It was also learned from witnesses that Levey had pointed the loaded firearm at vehicles as they drove past his location on the highway, prior to the deputies arriving.

John Levey was arrested and transported to the Stone County Detention Center.  On March 23, 2015, Prosecuting Attorney Don McSpadden formally charged John Levey with Aggravated Assault (Class D Felony), Refusal To Submit (Class A Misdemeanor) Driving While Intoxicated (Unclassified Misdemeanor), Leaving The Scene Of An Accident (Unclassified Misdemeanor), Driving On A Suspended License (Unclassified Misdemeanor), No Vehicle License ( Unclassified Misdemeanor), No Liability Insurance (Unclassified Misdemeanor), Failure To Maintain Control (Unclassified Misdemeanor) and Disorderly Conduct (Unclassified Misdemeanor).

Levey’s bond was set at $4,000.00.
