INTIMIDATING A WITNESS

Sheriff Lance Bonds states that on July 27, 2017, information was received that the suspect in this case, MATTHEW MING had been contacting the victim in a pending case. During the investigation, it was learned that MING was attempting to coerce the victim into altering her original statement to investigators.  

Upon reviewing evidence, between February 23, 2017 and August 2, 2017, investigators discovered more than ten instances where Ming had attempted to coerce the victim. The evidence of these acts have been placed in the original case file. 

Ming’s current charges include Rape, a class Y Felony, Introduction of a Controlled Substance into the Body of another Person, a Class Y Felony, Sexual Assault in the Second Degree, a Class B Felony, Crime of Video Voyeurism, a Class D Felony. These are the charges about which Ming is attempting to influence the victim to change her testimony.

On August 3, 2017, Prosecuting Attorney Holly Meyer formally charged MATTHEW MING with ten (10) additional charges of INTIMIDATING A WITNESS, Class C FELONY. Ming's bond has been REVOKED.
