Sheriff Lance Bonds states that on March 15, 2018, deputies with his office were dispatched to an address on Hwy. 66, to check on the welfare of a male individual.

As Deputies approached the door they could hear yelling and screaming from inside. DEPUTIES knocked and announced, "Sheriff's Department", and a female opened the door. At that time DEPUTIES saw the Defendant, WILLIAM JAROD NIXON, sitting on the arm of a couch yelling at a girl. As the female stepped back, she motioned DEPUTIES toward NIXON. He continued yelling but changed from the others in the trailer, to address DEPUTIES, "Awe, S_ _t Sarg, you got no right to be here. Get out of this house, you got no right to be here."

Knowing the residence to be the female’s, DEPUTIES looked to her and she said to the Defendant "Stop and calm down, Talk to him." DEPUTIES were standing in the door and The Defendant (NIXON) continued to yell over and over again "Get out, Get out I don't want you here, you got no right to be here". DEPUTIES asked him several times to step outside to talk to them, but he continued to escalate towards deputies.

When NIXON was told he was under arrest, NIXON attempted to strike at one of them. The deputy deflected the strike and attempted to gain control of him. As NIXON pulled away, one of the deputies grabbed his shirt and pulled him toward himself, As a scuffle ensued, NIXON was placed him in a head lock to turn him. After several moments, NIXON complied and was taken into custody without further incident. He was transported to the Stone County Detention Center for booking.

Sixteenth Judicial Prosecuting Attorney Holly Meyer has formally charged Nixon with:

COUNT 1:      AGGRAVATED ASSAULT (A.C.A. § 5-13-204(a)(1)

COUNT 2:      BATTERY IN THE SECOND DEGREE (A.C.A. § 5-13-202(a)(4)(A)(i)

COUNT 3:      HABITUAL OFFENDER ACT (A.C.A. § 5-4-501)

NIXON is currently awaiting a Stone County Circuit Court date.

His bond is set at $25,000.00
