Case 1
Sheriff Lance Bonds states that on February 28, 2015, Investigators and Deputies with the Stone County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 911 call at a residence on Sutterfield Road in Fox, Arkansas.

After arriving at the residence, officers found Donald James Mallett Jr. (41 year old white male / Mountain View, Arkansas) deceased inside the residence.  During the investigation, statements were received from witnesses at the residence that state that the victim drank an excessive amount of intoxicants prior to his death.

Also, a female witness at the residence states that when it was discovered the victim had expired and she attempted to call 911 however; Melvin England (40 year old white male / Fox, Arkansas) would not allow the female witness to contact authorities or 911.  The witness went on to say that England went as far as to threaten her with death if she called.  According to the witness, Melvin England told her that he had illegal narcotics hidden at the residence and did not want authorities there until he could dispose of them.

During the investigation, narcotic paraphernalia was located on the premises that were directly linked to Melvin England.  Sheriff Bonds states at this time no foul play is suspected in the reported death however; the body of Donald Mallett Jr. has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory to determine the exact cause of death.  The case is still under investigation.

On March 2, 2015, Sixteenth Judicial Prosecuting Attorney Don McSpadden formally charged Melvin England with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a class D Felony / Terroristic Threatening in the First Degree, a class D Felony and Interference with Emergency Communications in the Second Degree, a class B misdemeanor.   England is currently on Felony Probation with Department of Arkansas Community Corrections.  He is currently being held at the Stone County Detention in lieu of $5,000.00 bond and a probation violation.
