STONE COUNTY SHERIFF
OPERATION "ROUND UP"
Stone County Sheriff Lance Bonds stated that in the early morning hours of June 5th, 2015, the Stone County Sheriff's Department, while being assisted by the Sixteenth Judicial Drug Task Force, Mountain View Police Department, Arkansas State Police, Arkansas Probation and Parole and Arkansas Game & Fish officers, executed "Operation Round Up" in Stone County.
The operation came as a result of a year long investigation into the possession, sale and distribution of illegal narcotics within Stone County. The investigation resulted in 17 arrest warrants being authorized by Sixteenth Judicial Prosecuting Attorney Don McSpadden.
After being briefed by Sheriff Bonds, investigators, Special Agents and officers poured into the county in search of the wanted suspects. By the end of the day on June 5th, fourteen of the seventeen wanted individuals were in custody and awaiting their first appearance in Stone County Circuit Court. One other individual was arrested not related to the operation. Dustin Rhodes of Stone County was arrested when Stone County Investigators came into contact with him and discovered he was an absconder wanted by Arkansas State Parole and Probation. After a short foot pursuit, Rhodes was taken into custody for absconding, fleeing and possession of a controlled substance. He too was taken to the Stone County Detention Center for holding.
At present, three individuals remain at large. Sheriff Bonds does not believe these three to be a danger to the public however, he requests that anyone with information of their whereabouts contact the Stone County Sheriff's Department. Sheriff Bonds also wants to reminds everyone that harboring a wanted person is a crime.
Sheriff Bonds was pleased that all arrests were completed without incident, and thanks all agencies that assisted his department in the operation.
