Theft of Property
According to Sheriff Lance Bonds, on Sunday April 16th, 2017, an adult female victim reported her Red 2000 Honda Rancher ATV been stolen from her residence on Sunny Fox Rd. The victim said that the four-wheeler had been parked near the east side of her residence.
Investigators reviewed video surveillance footage from a store in the area in an attempt to locate a possible suspect.. The footage clearly shows Brent Whitman on a Red Honda ATV pull into the parking lot to get gas. According to an adult female witness, Brent Whitman entered the store, and was identified by her.
The victim was able to identify her ATV in the video footage by various accessories and damage. The victim also positively identified Brent Whitman as the driver of her ATV in the video footage.
It is of note that Whitman has theft charges pending in Stone County Circuit Court regarding a 1933 Ford Coupe and a Honda Trail 70 Motorcycle.
Whitman was contacted and interviewed post Mirada Warning on 04/23/2017, During the interview, Whitman admitted to Investigator Justin Meeks that he was the person responsible for stealing the ATV. Whitman has been arrested and charged with Theft of Property, a class D Felony.
