Aggravated Residential Burglary

UPDATE: Kellums has been transported to the Arkansas Department of Corrections (12/22/2017) pending trial in the mentioned charges.

Sheriff Lance Bonds states that on December 13, 2017, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Hwy. 14 west in regard to a disturbance with weapons. While deputies were in route to the residence, one person, Justin Kellums, left the residence.

After arriving at the scene, Investigator Sean Hickman discovered that Kellums had entered the residence with an object in his hand and threatened to kill the victim. Kellums then attacked the homeowner.

As the two fought, the resident forced Kellums outside. Once outside, Kellums pulled a knife.  The resident then brandished his own knife and defended himself.  During this time, the resident believed he had injured Kellums with the knife, at which time Kellums ran to his vehicle and fled the scene.

During a search for Kellums, he was located by Stone County deputies driving in the area of Hwy. 14. When deputies attempted to stop Kellums, he fled in the vehicle towards Fifty Six, Arkansas.  During the pursuit, Kellums ran Investigator Hickman off the roadway and narrowly missed another deputies vehicle while attempting the evade arrest.

After several minutes, Sergeant Mike Stephen coordinated a "rolling road block" on Kellums' vehicle, forcing him to a stop. Kellums was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the hospital with an injury consistent with a knife wound.

Kellums is currently in custody at the Stone County Detention Center. He has been formally charged by Sixteenth Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Holly Meyer with Battery Second Degree - Class D Felony / Aggravated Residential Burglary - Class Y Felony / Aggravated Assault - Class D Felony / Terroristic Threatening - Class D Felony /                      Fleeing - Class D Felony / Habitual Offender (Enhancement) Class E / Enhancement.  His bond has been set at $100,000.00.
