Prescription Drug Take Back event
Sheriff Lance Bonds stated that on April 26th, 2021, The Stone County Sheriff's Department participated in the 20th Annual National Drug Take-Back Event. This is a collection of Prescription medication and other medications. The Stone County Sheriff's Department collected approximately six hundred and eighty pounds of prescription meds from the year 2020 until the current date. This prevented these medications from getting into the wrong hands of individuals and made the streets of Stone COunty a little safer.
Opioid abuse is a current problem in Stone County and Sheriff Bonds encourages citizens to use the Prescription Drug take-back box that is located at the front door of the Stone County Sheriff's Department. These medications are collected and then turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for destruction.
