Warrant excuted in Fox

Stone County Sheriff's Department

Press Release

According to Chief Deputy Dammon McGilton of the Stone County Sheriff's Department, on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, around 6:00 a.m., members of the Stone County Sheriff's Department, 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force, Mountain View Police Department, and Arkansas Department of Corrections North Central K-9 Unit went to Ticer Lane in Fox, Arkansas to execute a search warrant and Federal arrest warrant.  Officers were looking for Richard Joe LEE, age 36, of Fox, AR.  LEE was wanted by the U.S. Marshal's Office for violating conditions of Federal Probation and was also wanted out of Johnson County for probation violations and absconding.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with a male and detained him.  The male informed officers that he had numerous firearms in his residence.  However, LEE remained in the house.  The male informed officers that LEE was inside and had been visiting for a few days.  Due to the situation that LEE has an extensive criminal history and is struggling with mental illness, officers decided to back out of the residence.  Officers did this in an attempt to de-escalate the situation, so that LEE or anyone else would be harmed.  LEE barricaded himself in the residence.  Numerous officers and other agencies responded to the scene.  Chief Deputy McGilton and Officer Russell Gilbert began negotiations with LEE.  Both Deputy McGilton and Officer Gilbert are trained in Crisis Intervention.  After five hours of negotiations, LEE was taken into custody without incident.  The other male was released at a later time.  LEE was later turned over to the U.S. Marshal's Service and transported to a holding facility.  There were no other charges filed at this time.  The incident is still under investigation.

Sheriff Lance Bonds would like to thank everyone involved for helping make the incident go as smooth as it did.
