Criminal Investigation Division

The Criminal Investigation Division has two investigators. Criminal Investigators are sworn Law Enforcement Officers responsible for investigating criminal activity and reporting crimes in Stone County.

These crimes range from burglaries and thefts to rapes and homicides and illegal drugs. These incidents may be investigated with the assistance of the Patrol Deputies, the Prosecuting Attorney, and other Law Enforcement agencies.

Once a uniformed Deputy takes a report, CID will begin a follow-up investigation. CID is responsible for processing and cataloging evidence at crime scenes, interviewing victims and witnesses, interviewing suspects, and preparing affidavits for arrest warrants, search warrants, and other related duties.

Combating the manufacture and distribution of controlled substances is a top priority of the Criminal Investigation Division. The CID works closely with the Arkansas State Police CID and other local agencies to fight the ever-present problem of drugs and controlled substances in Stone County.

Information obtained from the public is precious in all types of investigations. The Stone County Sheriff's Office encourages anyone with information about criminal activity or ongoing investigations to contact the Stone County Sheriff's Office
